Over the last few week (months even) myself and a team of amazing people from the North West Drupal User Group (NWDUG) have been working on putting together a DrupalCamp in the north west of UK. The culmination of this effort is DrupalCampNW2012, which will be 23rd-25th of November. The website for the event has been live for a couple of weeks now and tickets are available.
The main stumbling block in getting this project off of the ground was finding a venue big enough for the capacity we wanted and cheap enough that we could keep ticket prices to a minimum. We found the perfect venue in the form of the Salford University campus buildings in Media City, not far outside of Manchester itself. The venue will host around 200 people and we already have people signing up to the event from Copenhagen and Cornwall.
Session proposals are currently live so if you feel like talking at a Drupal event then please submit your talks. We want to be as inclusive as possible and have talks for levels of experience and ability, but this is dependent on what gets submitted. To submit a session just go to the call for session proposals page and follow the instructions.
The cut off date for submitting your sessions is 21st October so you only have a couple of weeks to get your proposals in. The Sunday of the event will consist of an unconference where people can propose their own talks on the day so if you do miss out on the main sessions you can always run a session on the day. The event is being sponsored by several companies, many of them from around the North West so if you are looking for a job in Drupal then this is a golden opportunity to get your name out and be recognised.
We would love for this conference to be a success. Mostly because we have already put a lot of work into getting everything running, but partly because we would like this to become an annual event. If you live in the North West of the UK and are involved in Drupal then please come along and make DrupalCampNW2012 an amazing event!
